”Many 'classics' are designed for a specific project,” says Ami. She is convinced that the clear framework provided in a project can give products a distinct character, making them useful in situations and environments other than those they were originally designed for.

”My mother often made unique floral arrangements and built her own vases by combining different vessels.

I believe that was why I started thinking about a vase with a water container and some kind of stand around it that could make such floral arrangements possible. But it wasn't until we needed to find a good gift for Fanny’s 50th birthday that I got the idea for what the vase should look like. The shape was to be playful without being trendy. The material was to be timeless and age beautifully.

Tomas Söderholm contributed improvements and produced the brass stand in his father’s workshop. Like most of 3dO’s work, Fanny is the result of collaboration.

After the Fanny vase was featured in a design magazine, the office started receiving inquiries about where the vase could be purchased. That was where Klong came into the picture.''

3dO is an office composed of architects, interior designers, and industrial designers working across several fields; everything from buildings and public spaces to product design.

Fjällnäs Mountain Lodge and Villa Baro in Åtvidaberg are examples of completed building projects.
