”I believe we need that extra layer in life, when things sparkle. When the cutlery becomes like jewelry on the table and the flavors transport us to another place. The inspiration for Gondol comes from a typical Swedish cake server and a Thai kitchen knife. The idea is that Gondol’s unique design and function will enhance the meal when cutting and serving things like a pie, gratin, or cake.”
The Gondolettes- which are both knives and forks at the same time - push the spoon aside. It is the perfect cutlery for cheese, small dishes, and cake. The inspiration comes from similar cutlery that was used frequently throughout Barbro’s upbringing.
Barbro Berlin runs Amsell Berlin Design Studio in collaboration with Pia Amsell. A great interest in food and social gatherings has resulted in the design of many products for the set table, as well as textile products, lighting, interior details, and furniture.
