Eva Schildt

Growing up on an island in the Stockholm archipelago, the sea and the rugged environment have been a constant companion in Eva Schildt's artistic creativity. Since graduating in furniture and product design from Beckmans College of Design in 2001, Eva has designed everything from furniture and textiles to packaging and trade show exhibitions. She also works as an interior architect.

Eva Schildt is convinced that people do not change much over time. Instead, it is the environment that is in constant flux. This belief is reflected in her design. With humility, Eva combines tradition with a small dose of modernity – a respectful provocation.

The materials and techniques vary; sometimes it is about craftsmanship, other times mass production. Inspired by nature, her designs, which are often sculptural, have almost always included elements of both humor and multifunctionality.

Eva Schildt's playful approach to everyday life and her warm personality are recurring in her design, which is now represented internationally. She is currently based in Stockholm, but she has previously lived in Tokyo and collaborated with several Japanese companies.

Eva Schildt's work is represented at the Swedish National Museum in Stockholm and at Röhsska Museum in Gothenburg.

"Behind every design is a person, an experience. People often have something to tell. If you really want to touch someone, you need to expose yourself without fear of being perceived as redundant," says Eva Schildt.
