Welcome to the Klong family! How has it been working with us for the first time?
Thank you! It has been wonderful working with Klong. I presented a brass prototype to Eva, and she welcomed it with open arms and immediately said, "Let's do it!"
What is the most important aspect for you in the process of developing a new product?
The most important and best thing is being able to be close to production when developing a new product, where you can both gain inspiration and have an interesting dialogue during the development.
Is there any environment that inspires you particularly much or often?
The weather and its changes inspire me a lot, as well as documenting and collecting visual experiences and, of course, meeting and discussing things with different people.
What is your favorite piece of furniture or interior detail in your home?
Right now, Twilight, of course! I have placed it in a very important part of our home—in the corner by the kitchen window. The kitchen is our favorite place, and windows are the most beautiful thing there is. Twilight is there, providing both light and an extra dimension!
Besides Twilight, I love the Mama hook that my husband, Jonas Bergfeldt, designed. We have filled an entire wall at random, creating a living wall that welcomes us every day when we open the door.
Inspired by the photo-multigraph technique, Twilight lets us explore reflections to experience depth as an extra dimension. Made of brass or stainless steel, it can be placed in a corner or on a flat wall and you can change its function using a candleholder or a vase.
About the designer
Margarita Matiz Bergfeldt was born in Bogotá, Colombia in 1973. Today, she lives and works in Stockholm, having originally moved here to study at Konstfack. In 1999, she received her master's degree in industrial design. In 2021, Margarita's first product for Klong was launched, the beautiful wall sconce Twilight.
